Episode 4: The Lost Bois

The lost bois feature the vocal stylings of A.O., also known as the Awkward Original, and B.Steady. These two young, queer artists were born and raised in Washington, D.C. and have been singing and performing together for years.
Taking inspiration from artists including Sweet Honey in the Rock, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Sarah Vaughan, and Prince, the lost bois have diverse musical roots. Combining old school style, jazz, pop, soul and their own creation, "queer hip-pop", the lost bois create music that speaks to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

They offer their singing talents at community events, rallies, protests, farmer’s markets, civil rights celebrations, DC voting rights events, arts showcases, in schools, at churches, in prisons, etc.

Episode 1: Zami DC & Climbing Poetree
Air Date: October 13, 2011
Zami DC is a free summer creative writing workshop taught by local artists Be Steadwell and Taylor Johnson for lgbtq youth in the DC area. The workshop consists of poetry and songwriting classes, weekly features with local artists, discussions on continuing education, art in the community, and career options.
Alixa and Naima form the group Climbing Poetree. The two are poets who moonlight as street artists, and infiltrate public schools and prisons with infectious ideas of how people can shape their own destinies.
